Typically celebrated on September 3rd, the day marks the tradition that traces back to the year 301 AD when Saint Marinus, a Christian stonemason, is believed to have founded the Republic atop Mount Titano. The festivities include various historical and cultural events, parades, religious ceremonies, and public gatherings throughout the historic centre.
The highlight of the celebration often includes a religious mass, and an official ceremony with the Captains Regent (the co-heads of state of San Marino), along with military honors.
